Why weighing can be off: the venue's weighing contract
Weighing open bottles is a Swift Inventory service that Red Swift switches on per venue, and a count shows whether it is on, in grace or off.

What you see
- On the Swift Inventory tablet, the count header shows Weighing: on, Weighing: grace or Weighing: off.
- With Weighing: off, the scale stays off for that count.
- In the NOPI app on a phone, the Weigh button or the scale card is missing, or a count says weighing is off.
- A line you weighed shows up as a plain count. The tablet says “Weighing is off for this count — the bottle was counted, but the weight was not kept.”
Nothing is lost
Counts are never lost. When a weight reading is refused, the quantity is still stored as the running total the device sent. Only the scale reading is left out. Counting whole bottles always works.
Why
Weighing part-full bottles on the scale is the Swift Inventory weighing service. It works for a venue that has both:
- a Swift Inventory tablet linked to the outlet, and
- an active Swift Inventory contract for the outlet.
The contract is switched on per venue by Red Swift.
Weighing is off when one of these is true:
- No tablet was ever linked to this outlet.
- There is no contract recorded for this outlet.
- The contract has ended. After a contract ends there is one grace count, within 31 days. Weighing: grace means you are using it. Once it is used or has expired, weighing is off.
A single count can also be off even though your venue may weigh. This happens when the count was opened on a phone with no tablet present and no earlier tablet-confirmed count to carry over from.
What you can do
- Link the tablet to the right outlet. In NOPI on your phone, open Profile and link the tablet by QR. See Link a tablet by QR from NOPI.
- Open the count on the tablet. Opening the same count on the tablet upgrades it, and weighing comes on for that count.
Everything else is set by Red Swift. After a contract change, allow up to 30 seconds for it to apply.
