The tablet shows more than I counted

In a shared count the tablet adds every device's total together, so the same bottles counted twice give a number that is too high.

What you see

On the tablet, a product shows a bigger total than the person on the phone counted. For example the tablet shows “Gin 3.6” when the phone shows 2.

Why

In a shared count, every device reports its own total for a product. The tablet adds them together. That is what makes it work when two people count two shelves of the same gin.

If both people counted the same bottles, the sum is too high.

It is never a retry problem. A phone that sends its total again replaces its earlier figure. It does not add to it.

What to do

  1. On the tablet, tap the product. It lists who counted what, for example “Alex’s iPhone 2.4 · Bar tablet 1”.
  2. Work out whether the same bottles were counted twice.
  3. If they were, type the correct number on the tablet.

The line now shows an override badge. Your typed number stands for the count, even if a phone sends more afterwards, until the tablet clears it.

How typed numbers behave

  • If only the tablet has counted a product, a number you type is simply the tablet’s own total.
  • Once another device has counted the same product, a number you type on the tablet becomes an override of the sum.

How to avoid it

Agree who counts which shelf before you start. A shared count works best when each person has their own area.
