Read the Analytics page

What the venue-wide figures mean, and why they differ from the tablet's own Analytics screen.

DraftNot yet checked step by step against the running app. Labels may differ slightly.

The tablet’s Analytics screen only knows the counts taken on that tablet, and it forgets them when you sign out. The portal’s Analytics page reads the venue’s ledger, so it covers every tablet and phone.

What is counted

Only finalised counts. A count that is still in progress, or waiting for a manager to finalise it, is left out, because its expected quantities are not fixed yet.

Pick 30 days, 90 days or 12 months at the top. The period is by the date a count was finalised.

The figures

  • The large number is net variance: counted minus expected, summed over every line of every finalised count in the period. A minus means less on the shelf than the books expected. It is in bottles, not money.
  • Lines off the books is how many counted lines did not match.
  • Weighed on the scale is the share of lines that used the scale. It is recorded for shared counts only, so counts sent from a phone in one go are not included.
  • By location shows which stations or warehouses the variance came from. Bars to the left are short of the books.
  • Largest shortages lists the products that came up short most.
  • Coverage by location shows how often each location was counted. A location that is rarely counted hides its losses longest.

When variance is not loss

If no till reports a station’s sales, the ledger cannot tell selling from losing. For those counts the variance is usage since the previous count. The page tells you when this applies.

If the page shows activity only

Variance summed across counts depends on a server update. Until your venue has it, the page shows counting activity, and each finalised count still has its own variance under Counts.
