Wiki / Bottle weights
Why a product says "no weights yet"
A product shows no weights yet when the product registry does not know its bottle well enough to turn a weight into a quantity.
DraftNot yet checked step by step against the running app. Labels may differ slightly.
What you see
On the Products page and on the Scale page, each product carries one of two badges:
- weighable – the app can turn a weight into “% left”.
- no weights yet – it cannot, yet.
If you weigh a product without weights, the weigh panel says “No bottle weights on file for this product yet — the reading can’t be turned into a quantity.” The button stays as Use reading and cannot be tapped.
Why
“% left” needs the product registry to know the bottle: its empty weight and its size. Density improves the result further. If the registry has no weights for that product, there is nothing to compare your reading against.
There is a second, less common cause. Bottle weights reach your venue’s product list through a regular sync. A product that has only just gained weights may not show them on your tablet straight away.
What you can do
Count it as a whole number for now
You can always count the product with − and +, or by typing a number. Decimals are fine, so you can enter an estimate such as 0.5 for a half-full bottle.
File the weights yourself
- Weigh a sealed bottle and tap File as sealed full.
- Weigh an empty bottle and tap File as empty.
Never file a partially full bottle. That is a stock reading, not a fact about the bottle.
Filed weights wait for review. Once accepted, the product becomes weighable for every venue. Full steps are in File sealed-full and empty weights.
You may only need the sealed bottle
With enough data for a category, the app can estimate an empty weight from a sealed bottle alone. See How “% left” is computed.
If every product says “no weights yet”
Bottle weights come through your NOPI or Swift Inventory account. A tablet that is connected only to SwiftPOS or Circona can count, but cannot weigh. Link the tablet to your account: see Link a tablet by QR from NOPI.
If the products are weighable but the scale stays off, see Why weighing can be off.
