Device keys
Each tablet or tool works with your venue through its own key, which you manage in app.nopi.app and can switch off at any time.

What a device key is
A device key lets a Swift Inventory tablet, or another tool, work with your venue without a person logging in on it. Each device has its own key.
A Swift Inventory tablet receives its key when you link it by QR, so there is nothing to copy or type. See Link a tablet by QR from NOPI.
Where keys are managed
Keys are managed in app.nopi.app, under Settings → Connections → API keys.
- Only a venue owner or manager sees this page. If you are staff, ask a manager.
- Keys are per outlet. Switch to the right outlet first.
A linked tablet shows up in this list with its name. You can switch it off there at any time. The tablet then needs linking again.
Create a key for another tool
- Sign in to app.nopi.app as an owner or manager.
- Select the correct outlet.
- Go to Settings → Connections → API keys → New key.
- Name the key after the device, for example “SwiftInventory tablet — main bar”.
- Tick what the key may do: read the catalogue, read and write inventory, file bottle weights.
- Copy the key into the device straight away. It is shown only once.
Good practice
- One key per device. Create a separate key for each tablet or tool, so you can switch one off without affecting the others.
- Keys act on behalf of their creator. If that person leaves the venue, the keys they created stop working. Someone still in the venue must create them again, or link the tablet again.
- Keep keys private. Never share a key in a message or a chat.
