The SwiftPOS connection
Pair the tablet with a SwiftPOS store as a terminal, using a single-use pairing code from the SwiftPOS back office.
DraftNot yet checked step by step against the running app. Labels may differ slightly.
What it is for
Use this connection when SwiftPOS owns your venue’s stock. The tablet joins a store as a paired terminal, and counts are filed to SwiftPOS as till events.
What you need
- A store set up in SwiftPOS.
- A pairing code from the SwiftPOS back office.
Steps
- In the SwiftPOS back office, go to Terminals and create a pairing code.
- On the tablet, open Connections from the menu.
- On the SwiftPOS card, fill in:
- API base URL – leave the value that is already filled in unless you have been given another.
- Pairing code – the code from the back office, in the form XXXX-XXXX.
- Device name – a name for this tablet. It starts as “Swift Inventory tablet”.
- Tap Pair.
When it works you see “Paired with” followed by the store’s name, and the card shows the store’s name as a badge.
If pairing fails
Pairing codes are single-use and they expire. If you see “Pairing failed — codes are single-use and expire”, create a fresh code in the back office and enter it again.
It is per device
Each tablet is paired as its own terminal. To pair a second tablet, create a second pairing code.
Make SwiftPOS the ledger
If SwiftPOS is the first system you connect, counts are filed there automatically. Otherwise:
- Open Connections.
- On the Counts file to card, tap the SwiftPOS store.
A count is filed exactly once, to the system that owns this venue’s stock. See Where counts go.
Weighing with SwiftPOS
SwiftPOS does not hold bottle weights. They come through your NOPI or Swift Inventory account, and the app looks them up by barcode when you weigh. A tablet connected only to SwiftPOS can count, but cannot weigh. To weigh, also link the tablet to your account: see The NOPI connection.
