First launch: link a tablet by QR from NOPI
Scan a one-time QR code from the NOPI app on your phone and the tablet is connected to your venue without anyone typing a password.

How it works
Your phone shows a one-time QR code. The tablet scans it and receives its own key for your venue. No password is ever typed on the tablet.
Before you start
- You are signed in to the NOPI app on your phone as a venue owner or manager.
- Your phone is on the outlet you want the tablet to count for.
- The tablet has the Swift Inventory app installed.
Steps
- On your phone, open the NOPI app and go to Profile.
- Tap Link SwiftInventory tablet. Your NOPI app may show this option as Sign in another device. A QR code appears. It is valid for 2 minutes.
- On the tablet, open Swift Inventory. On first launch the Counts page shows Set up this tablet.
- Under My venue uses NOPI, tap Scan the QR from NOPI.
- Point the tablet’s camera at the QR code on your phone.
The tablet is now connected as its own device. Stations, products and bottle weights follow automatically.
If the tablet has been set up before, you can scan from Profile instead: tap Scan from NOPI app.
After linking
The tablet appears in app.nopi.app under Settings → Connections → API keys. You can switch it off there at any time. See Device keys.
If the code is refused
- “Invalid, used, or expired”. Each code works exactly once, for 2 minutes. A second scan or a late scan fails. Tap Regenerate on the phone and scan again. Nothing is broken.
- “Only a venue owner or manager can issue API keys”. The code was shown by a staff member. Ask a manager or owner to show the code.
Good to know
The tablet acts on behalf of the person who showed the code. When that person leaves the venue, link the tablet again with someone who stays.
If your venue does not use NOPI, see Create a Swift Inventory account from the tablet.
