Tare, stable readings and battery

Tare with the platter empty, wait for Stable before you use a reading, and charge the scale when the app tells you to.

DraftNot yet checked step by step against the running app. Labels may differ slightly.

Tare with the platter empty

Always tare before you weigh.

  1. Take everything off the platter.
  2. Tap Tare (empty platter).
  3. Put the bottle on.

The app keeps its own zero. It does this because the scale silently re-zeroes itself with a bottle on it, so the scale’s own zero cannot be trusted. If you tare with something on the platter, every reading after that is wrong.

Wait for “Stable”

The weigh panel shows the weight in grams.

  • Settling… means the reading is still moving.
  • Stable appears when the reading settles. This takes about 3 seconds.

Only use a reading once it says Stable.

Use the reading

When the reading is stable and the product has bottle weights on file, the panel shows the result, for example “87% left” with the millilitres and a ± margin.

  1. Select the product row, or scan the bottle.
  2. Put the bottle on the scale and wait for Stable.
  3. Tap the Add … ml to count button. The button shows the millilitres and the fraction of a bottle that will be added.

If the panel says “No bottle weights on file for this product yet — the reading can’t be turned into a quantity”, see Why a product says “no weights yet”.

Battery

The weigh panel shows the scale’s battery level, for example “Scale battery 40%”.

  • charge soon – the battery is low.
  • charge before counting! – the battery is critical.

Charge the scale at 15%.
