File sealed-full and empty weights

Weigh a sealed bottle or an empty one and file it, so the product can be weighed during counts.

DraftNot yet checked step by step against the running app. Labels may differ slightly.

Why file weights

To turn a weight into “% left”, the product registry needs to know the bottle. You can supply that by weighing two things: a sealed full bottle and an empty one. Once your weights are accepted, the product becomes weighable for every venue.

The two weights

  • Sealed full. The bottle must be sealed: capsule on, no pourer. A good moment is when a delivery arrives.
  • Empty. A bottle with nothing in it. A good moment is when you bin a dead bottle during a count.

Never file a partially full bottle. That is a stock reading, not a fact about the bottle.

Steps

  1. Connect the scale and tap Tare (empty platter) with the platter empty.
  2. Select the product, or scan the bottle. You can do this in a count, or from Scale in the menu.
  3. Put the bottle on the scale and wait for Stable.
  4. Tap File as sealed full for a sealed bottle, or File as empty for an empty one.

The two buttons appear once the reading is stable and a product is selected.

What you see

  • “Weight filed to the product registry — thank you!” – the weight was sent.
  • “Registry not reachable right now — saved, will file automatically.” – you are offline. The weight is saved on the device and files itself when the connection returns.
  • “Could not file this weight.” – the weight was not accepted.

What happens next

Filed weights wait for review before they are used. You can see yours in the Filed measurements card. Once a weight is accepted, it is folded into the product’s figures.

Weights are never overwritten. Each one is added to the others, and the product’s average is worked out again.

You do not have to empty a bottle

With enough data for a category, the app can estimate an empty weight from a sealed bottle alone. Nobody needs to pour stock away to weigh the glass. See How “% left” is computed.
