Count together with phones

Several people can count the same place at once, with NOPI phones scanning into the count that runs on the tablet.

How it works

There are two roles. The Swift Inventory tablet runs the count and finishes it. The NOPI app on a phone joins as a handheld scanner. Numbers from the phones land on the tablet live.

Before you start

Steps

  1. On the tablet, start the count for the station or warehouse as usual. The count shows a shared badge.
  2. On your phone, open Inventory → Join live count and pick the same place. Alternatively, tap Add phone on the tablet and scan the code it shows with the NOPI app.
  3. On the phone, scan a bottle, then tap +1, type the number, or weigh it on the scale.
  4. The phone lists only what you counted, with a tick once the line has reached NOPI.
  5. The tablet shows every product with the total and who counted what. Its header shows who is counting.
  6. When everyone is done, tap Save & Send on the tablet. A phone cannot finish a joined count.

Review and approval then happen exactly like any other count.

How totals add up

  • Each device sends its own running total for a product, never “+1”. A retry cannot double count.
  • Two devices counting the same product are added together on the tablet, with a breakdown per device. If the same bottles were counted twice, see The tablet shows more than I counted.

Before you send

If a phone has sent nothing for over 5 minutes and is not marked as done, the tablet warns you with Devices gone quiet. If those people are still counting, their unsent lines will miss this count. Wait for them, or tap Send anyway.

Good to know

  • A product scanned on a phone that is not assigned to that station is still counted, marked Not stocked here. It is added to the station when the tablet finishes.
  • A barcode NOPI does not know is refused for that line only.
  • A live count nobody touches for 24 hours expires by itself.
  • If the tablet has no connection when you start, the count shows offline — will share. It joins the shared count once the tablet is back online.
  • The scale goes to the phones first. See Share the scale between phone and tablet.
